About The Book

A year ago today, we all gathered for Lucas’ wedding at his glorious Cornish home overlooking the sea.
But no one was married that day.
Now Lucas has invited us back to celebrate the anniversary. But the anniversary of what? The wedding that never happened, or the tragedy that occurred just hours before the ceremony was due to begin?
He’s told us that tonight he has planned a game. We have our costumes, we have our parts, and everyone must play. The game, he tells us, is about to begin.
What does Lucas want from us? What are we not being told? And what’s going to happen when this terrible game is over?

My Thoughts

Being part of an escape game is something fun and a way to connect with your friends, unless the organizer is ready to do anything to uncover the murder, even killing… Sounds mysterious and twisted? Oh yes, be prepared because that’s what you’ll find in this book, ready?
This is a story told in two parts, the past and the present; a year ago, a group of friends were reunited to celebrate the wedding of Lucas Jarrett and her fiancé, sadly, the reunion ended with a victim, Alex, Luca’s sister. Now, a year later, all the friends are reunited again to celebrate a year of Lucas marriage, but he has prepared a dangerous game to discover what really happened in the past. He knows all of his friends have secrets and lied in the past, now it’s time to reveal the truth to uncover who is the killer.
I’ll say from the beginning that I finished this book really quickly, the need to know the truth was so strong that I didn’t go to sleep till I finished the book. It was interesting and addictive, the story is told between different characters letting you know their thoughts and feelings, I liked that even if there were twists during the story, you didn’t feel betrayed that the characters were lying to you. Jemma, the main character is a trustworthy woman that doesn’t know what’s really happening and is scared that her marriage will never recover after this weekend. She will be the one that will mainly lead the story, trying to discover and understand the motive of what really happened in the past and why his husband changed so much during this last year, what has he been hiding?
I’ll admit that the author did an amazing job with the twists of the story, I predicted some of the surprises (the problem of reading so much!) but I liked how the story is told and how the police, DI Stephanie King, helps Jemma to discover the truth, they become part of the story without interrupting the atmosphere. I really can’t wait to read more about Stephanie, she is an ace!
The Murder Game is perfect to play an escape game without needing friends to help you with the hints, you only have to try to uncover the truth before it’s too late. Ready?
