About The Book

Alison has it all. A doting husband, adorable daughter, and a career on the rise – she’s just been given her first murder case to defend. But all is never as it seems…
Just one more night. Then I’ll end it.
Alison drinks too much. She’s neglecting her family. And she’s having an affair with a colleague whose taste for pushing boundaries may be more than she can handle.
I did it. I killed him. I should be locked up.
Alison’s client doesn’t deny that she stabbed her husband – she wants to plead guilty. And yet something about her story is deeply amiss. Saving this woman may be the first step to Alison saving herself.
I’m watching you. I know what you’re doing.
But someone knows Alison’s secrets. Someone who wants to make her pay for what she’s done, and who won’t stop until she’s lost everything….

My Thoughts

This had been a very addictive read, twisted and original, a book that I am sure will keep the readers divided; loving it or hating it, because Blood Orange will leave no one indifferent, will make you want to talk about it!
I was quite surprised with this book since the beginning. Alison, our main character has a secret life, she has an affair with one of her working partners, and not only this is making her life a spiral of craziness, but her marriage is starting to fail to. But it seems that someone knows about her affair and is starting to threaten her… who could it be and on what purposes are they trying to scare her?
Alison is not a nice woman, she drinks too much and doesn’t seem to care about her family, only her work and her affair; but let’s admit that her new case is really interesting, a woman has killed her husband, she is ready to face full sentence, but Alison thinks there’s something more, and she will not be wrong…!
The story of this book is interesting, but what gets you addicted to it is the story behind the story, how someone can undermine us or make us do things we don’t want, I know it does seem twisted, but let’s face it, this is abuse, pure abuse, no matter who does it: male or female, it is always abuse.
Lately I am reading a lot of books about women abused by their husbands, I am not sure if it’s because it was taboo talking about it or because now women are ready to talk about it, but I hope this will make men and women more conscious about this problem and ready to stop it.
Blood Orange is like a bitter juice, sweet in the beginning but with a twisted taste in the end. Ready?
