Rogue Killer by Leigh Russell
About The Book
WHEN THE TARGETS ARE RANDOM, YOU COULD BE NEXT
A man is killed in an apparently random attack, and suspicion falls on a gang of muggers. Only Detective Sergeant Geraldine Steel thinks this is the work of a more deliberate murderer.
Two more victims are discovered, after further seemingly indiscriminate attacks, and this time the muggers have a concrete alibi. All the while the killer remains at large. When Geraldine finally manages to track down a witness, she finds her own life is in danger…
When a man appears dead without any possible motive except randomness, everyone thinks it was a gang killing; because no one can expect that a killer is walking freedom on the streets…
I was totally glued to this story, is told with different voices; the detectives trying to discover who is behind the murder and their investigation, but not in a cold way, we will know their problems and their struggles. On the other side we will meet the gang who are hiding from the police, of course, but not for the motives they thought…
And the most important, the killer, we will read the thoughts and the hunger to kill. All of these voices make the book a complete story, with all the perspectives and the personal touch to make it more real.
What I liked most about the book was the last chapter, something that it always pops in my head when I am reading a murder book, are the killers 100% responsible for their impulses or could the society have done something before it happened? If the police, which is the one that should have a total clear mind about it, how is it possible that a simple citizen could not ask the same question? Because is always easy to simply point a person for the killings than thinking about the story behind the killer; family neglect? abuse? This is not something you can simply ignore, maybe it’s time to start helping the people that need help instead of focusing so much in ourselves?
This is a thriller book, unputdownable and dark that I am sure that you will love!
