Stone Cold Heart by Caz Frear
About The Book
A fractured marriage. A silent family. A secret that connects them all.
When DC Cat Kinsella is approached by Joseph Madden for help with his wife, Rachel, there’s not much she can do. Joseph claims that Rachel has been threatening him, but can’t – or won’t – give Cat details as to why. Dismissing it as a marriage on the rocks, Cat forgets about it.
That is until Naomi Lockhart, a young PA, is found dead after a party attended by both Joseph and Rachel, and Joseph is arrested for the murder.
Joseph says his wife is setting him up.
His wife says he didn’t do it.
The trail of evidence leads to even more questions . . .
Adulterer. Murderer. Victim. Who would you believe?
Oh this is my type of book; you have no idea who is telling the truth or who is lying till the end of the story!
The Detective Constable Cat Kinsella and her partner Luigi Parnell will have to investigate the murder of an Australian woman; this may not seem a special case until you know that the main suspect is the owner of a coffee shop near the police station and well known for the fellow police officers. The problem is that Joseph Madden says that he is innocent and that everything is planned by her wife! Yes, this is the typical story that I would love to see in a movie, full of guessing and not believing anything that has been said it keeps the reader glued to every page.
But a part from the case, I loved the partnership between Cat and Parnell, it drops some humor and personal touch to the story and a good view of how the police works in a twisted case.
I think the author Caz Frear likes to leave the readers in a cliffhanger after the read, because even if you can read this as a standalone story, I think it will be much better if you read the first book; I think there characters are more complex than I thought when I start reading this book and I want to know more about them. And of course after the ending of Stone Cold Heart I can’t wait to read the next case!
Be prepared for a gripping case full of twists!
About The Author
Caz Frear grew up in Coventry and spent her teenage years dreaming of moving to London and writing a novel. After fulfilling her first dream, it wasn’t until she moved back to Coventry thirteen years later that the writing dream finally came true. She has a first-class degree in History & Politics, which she’s put to enormous use over the years by working as a waitress, shop assistant, retail merchandiser and, for the past twelve years, a headhunter.
When she’s not agonising over snappy dialogue or incisive prose, she can be found shouting at the TV when Arsenal are playing, or holding court in the pub on topics she knows nothing about.
