About The Book
A mother’s job is to keep her children safe.
Tess has always tried to be a good mother. Of course, there are things she wishes she’d done differently, but doesn’t everyone feel that way?
Then Emma, her youngest, is attacked on her way home from a party, plunging them into a living nightmare which only gets worse when the man responsible is set free
But what if she fails?
So when Tess sees the attacker in the street near their home, she is forced to take matters into her own hands.
But blinded by her need to protect her daughter at any cost, might she end up putting her family in even greater danger?
There’s nothing she wouldn’t do to make it right . . .
My Thoughts
‘You know when you have a son stuck in your head that you can’t shake off? Earworm, they call it. Something that wriggles into your brain and gets lodged there. Well, you are my earworm. You have eaten your way along my neural pathways and into my frontal lobe and now my thoughts itch with you.’
This is a strong and powerful read, touching and real in which any reader will be able to feel the suffering of being a mother and how difficult is to keep our little ones safe. Just let the story flow, it will absorb you from the first moment.
The worst nightmare as a parent is knowing that someone wants to hurt your children, it will eat you inside, that danger that you couldn’t stop hurting your “little” ones. This is the story of Tess and her daughter Emma and the night someone tried to hurt her; luckily someone stopped the attack. Everything will start when Emma couldn’t identify the man who attacked her and the police can’t arrest anyone. Of course this is the worst nightmare for any woman that has been attacked, no suspects, so no arrest… this means that he can walk freely and maybe you can cross paths with him again. So when Emma arrives one night at home saying that he has seen him, her mother can not say away from it anymore. She needs to protect her daughter from the “evil”, she needs to do what the police couldn’t do, stop him.
The cure could prove worse than the original problem, because Tess is so obsessed with this man that she will start obsessing with him, following him… But Tess has her dark side too, she has been “stalking” her ex-husband and her partner and have some video cameras at her parents house. Is she really trying to protect her daughter or this man is her new “obsession”? So many questions! You should read the book to know the answers!
I was totally glued on this book, maybe because I am a mother I can understand the need to protect our loved ones? But I think is not only this, the author, Tammy Cohen, makes you want to be part of the story not a mere spectator, feeling everything in your own skin.
I’ll have to admit that this is the first book I’ve read of Tammy Cohen, but it will not be the last! Twisted, original, touching… what more can you say about a good book? Simply read it! Because I am sure you’ll Stop At Nothing till you arrive at the last page.
