About The Book

You committed the perfect crime. But someone knows the truth.
You followed the trial obsessively.
You know he’s guilty and can’t believe he got away with it.
But someone is determined to see justice done.
Rain Winter left journalism behind to focus on her baby daughter. But when a man acquitted for murder is killed, in the same way as his suspected victims, Rain sees a pattern emerging between a series of cold cases
Meticulous and untraceable, this killer strikes in the dead of night, making sure that the guilty are suitably punished for their crimes.
As Rain’s investigation deepens, she must face up to dark secrets in her own past and the realisation that the killer may be closer than she thinks…

My Thoughts

Rain Winter loves her life, she takes care of her daughter while her husband works, but everything will change when the main suspect of a case she investigated a year ago is killed. This is one of those cases that everyone knew that he was guilty but the jury left him free. Now someone seems to take the law in their hands and kill him… Of course Rain will not be able to stop investigating it, something compelling that she can’t stop and everything will lead to her past, because she was once a victim but survived.
This story is so complex and twisted that it’s quite difficult to make a review trying not to make any spoiler! Because since more or less the beginning we know who is the “Vigilant”, talks to us and we know their deep thoughts and compulsions. What we don’t really know is the relation between the Vigilant and Rain, but believe me, is much deeper than we think.
Saying that Rain is obsessed with the case it would not be too much, but at the same time I think is her way to start doing what she loves without feeling guilty to leave her daughter with a childminder, and I totally respect it. I didn’t like much her husband, but I suppose that this is a personal opinion, his need to know all the time where she is and not knowing very much how to take care of her little one was getting on my nerves!
This is a really interesting book in the perspective of the survivors after an attack; they believe that the attacker would be in prison for the rest of their lives, but it’s not always like that. Sometimes they get free and then the fear returns to their body, fearing for their safety all the time. So, what would you say if the monster of your nightmares is killed by a vigilant? Would you complain or would you say thanks?
There’s one sentence that stuck with me “Sometimes the wrong thing is the right thing”; and sadly this is so true in so many levels that it scares me!
This had been a compelling read, original and intelligent that I will be surprised if you don’t finish it within 48 hours!
The Stranger Inside is a book to make you think of your deepest beliefs, ready?
