You Are Mine by Miranda Rijks
About The Book
Rupert has spent years searching for his perfect wife. Now he’s found her.
Her name is Charlotte Aldridge and she’s wonderful. A talented artist, modest and beautiful, she’s everything he ever dreamed of. Her hair, her eyes, her mouth – every little detail is perfect.
Rupert is confident that when they meet, she’ll fall in love with him just as he has with her. After all, he’s a wealthy British aristocrat. And he’s handsome – the relentless gym workouts and extensive plastic surgery have seen to that.
But what if Charlotte can’t see that they fit perfectly, that they’re meant for each other? Well, Rupert can be very persuasive. His father taught him certain methods which are extremely effective.
Methods that can turn the most determined, ‘I don’t’ into a meek and submissive, ‘I do’….
What a gripping and scary read! Starting with the possessive cover till the last page this is a book of obsession and perfection that will leave no one indifferent, I can assure you!
This story is told between different characters; moving from the present to the past, to make the story complete and more believable and relatable.
We are not used to read books where the main character Rupert becomes obsessed with Charlotte, a woman he believes is perfect for him… she only has to see it too. I enjoyed the read, but the thought that some person can be searching for the “perfect” partner no matter if it’s a woman or a man, totally freaks me out. I always thought that imperfection is what makes a relation to work, perfection will always put so much pressure to anyone that there’s no way that the relation could work!
Rupert is not a character you’ll like, but since the beginning you feel compelled to try to understand him, why is he so obsessed and his need for perfection; that’s why the memories from the past will help us understand the story. And Charlotte, maybe she is too naïve or simply doesn’t believe that danger is surrounding us, and puts Rupert in a perfect situation…
This had been an addictive and easy book to read, there’s not a big mystery, simply the need to know how everything will end! But I’ll admit that I really like Miranda’s style, her way to connect all the stories making it full and complex, nothing is left without an answer, the story flows without the reader knowing how the story has absorbed them!
You Are Mine is your next read, I can assure you! 😉
