About The Book

You’ve got to be in the club to know the truth.
Everyone’s heard the rumours about elite gentlemen’s clubs, where the champagne flows freely, the parties are the height of decadence . . . and the secrets are darker than you could possibly imagine.
DS Maeve Kerrigan finds herself in an unfamiliar world of wealth, luxury and ruthless behaviour when she investigates the murder of a young journalist, Paige Hargreaves. Paige was working on a story about the Chiron Club, a private society for the richest and most privileged men in London.
Then she disappeared.
It’s clear to Maeve that the members have many secrets. But Maeve is hiding secrets of her own–even from her partner DI Josh Derwent. Will she uncover the truth about Paige’s death? Or will time run out for Maeve first?

My Thoughts

I always think that you know whether you’ll love a book after reading the first two pages, and in this case, I knew it when I arrived at chapter 6 without being able to stop! Interesting, addictive and twisted; the book I needed these days!
I’ll say from the beginning that this is the 6th book of the Maeve Kerrigan series, but the book is so good and the characters so well defined that you will not feel lost or missing anything. I’ll admit that after reading it I started looking from the previous books of the series, so be advised!
For me, what makes a book to stand out from the rest is the case and the characters on it, “The Cutting Place” is an interesting and intriguing case where a journalist who was investigating a boy’s secret club appears dead… As you can imagine the investigation will not be easy, Maeve, our main character and detective of the case, will only find closed doors and no hints to search. But it seems that the club has a non-written rule, all the members have to be guilty!
This book will not be as good as it is without the characters, the chemistry and tension between them is what makes the book a must read, the human part, because in any story what makes the reader to be part of it is the connection between the reader and the characters, and I was totally invested in the them, the life and thoughts, I was biting my nails all the story scared for them!
I really can’t wait to read the new case, I hope it will not take long! Because I will pre-order it as soon as it will be available! The Cutting Place is a must read, believe me!
