My Thoughts

When I see a cover with something related to Jane Austen it always catches my eye, I love her novels and how, no matter how old are her stories, they never age and are used on contemporary fiction!
This is the case of “The Jane Austen Society” audio book, yes, I didn’t “read” this book, I listened to it! The voice is from Richard Armitage, so be prepared for a well known voice in a sweet and emotive story.
I am always surprised how books can reunite so many people from a totally different background, that’s what this book transmits to the reader; how can a group of disparate individuals come together to preserve Jane Austen’s legacy. They don’t have anything in common (at the beginning) simply the love for books and their need to maintain the house she lived and all her books in Chawton.
This is a slow paced story, full of characters and intertwined relations that will make us remember Jane Austen stories; love, misunderstandings and friendship are filling this book, making the reader compare it all the time with the famous Jane Austen novels.
Don’t expect a biography of Jane Austen, she is only the connection between the characters and the love for her books, making it original and sweet at the same time. I loved how all the characters made me remember some books or situations I have read a lot of times!
This is a book for Jane Austen lovers, a historical fiction with curious characters and their love, a book to enjoy and delight in a summer night! Ready to discover “The Jane Austen Society”?

About The Author

Natalie Jenner is the author of THE JANE AUSTEN SOCIETY (Orion Books, May 2020), a fictional telling of the start of the society in the 1940s in the village of Chawton, where Austen wrote or revised her major works. Born in England and raised in Canada, Natalie graduated from the University of Toronto with consecutive degrees in English Literature and Law, and has worked for decades in the legal industry. She recently founded the independent bookstore Archetype Books in Oakville, Ontario, where she lives with her family and two rescue dogs.
