About The Book
Jennifer Cole has just been told that she has three months to live — ninety days to say goodbye and put her affairs in order. Trying to focus on the positives she realises she has one overriding regret: the words she’s left unsaid.
So Jennifer writes letters to three significant people in her life: her overbearing, selfish sister, her jelly-spined, cheating ex-husband, and her charming, unreliable ex-boyfriend finally telling them the things she’s always wanted to say but never dared.
At first, she feels liberated. But once you start telling the truth, it’s hard to stop. And, as she soon discovers, the truth isn’t always what it seems. Death has a way of surprising you …
A smart, funny, uplifting debut which asks big questions.
My Thoughts
First of all, don’t be turn down with the title of this book, it is a precious book to make us remember that life can change only by how you see a glass; half full or half empty!
Jennifer Cole is told that she has a terminal illness and has not much time to live… So, she decides to write 3 letters to the persons who had influenced more in her life, she really doesn’t expect an answer, only lifting her heart and say a few truths after writing them. But as the book progresses we will know more about them and how important they are in Jennifer’s life; an ex-husband, an ex-lover and her estranged sister.
This is a light read, it will make you think and pounder about your life, yes, but not in a sad way, it’s a refreshing and original story. It’s always good to remember the power of being alive and loved, the memories that we make with our loved ones will remain forever, like a photograph.
I was surprised with all the themes that this story touches; death, love, marriage, miscarriages, infidelity… Makes the story more interesting and I am sure will touch any reader’s feelings.
The book’s previous title was “Death and Other Happy Endings” but the author decided to change it after the pandemic we are living to the actual book title, I think it has more positivity and I am sure it will put a smile on your face with some of the situations!
