About The Book

The Monstrous Me collection are split perspective books looking at situations from other points of view, helping children develop a sense of balance, roundedness and wellbeing. Readers can literally and figuratively, turn the story on its head, and look at the very same situations from different angles. In this second book, ‘My Daddy is a Monster’ a curious little boy is convinced his dad is a monster. But, is he really? When we look through his dad’s eyes, we see a very different story.

My Thoughts

I have to say that I love “The Monstrous Me” book collection; it’s original and real and it shows the reader that depending on the perspective of the story everything changes!
My son loves these books, not only because they are colourful and funny but because he can relate to the characters and the situations. At the first moment he always laughs at the monsters actions, but then understands that depending on who is doing it, the situation changes; something funny can turn into something wrong.
In “My Daddy Is A Monster” it is easy to see how the poor daddy tries to take care and love his little monsters, but them, monsters as they are, can’t see the reality, only the need to do whatever they want. It was easy to be in the Monster’s skin, because, how many times you’ve tried to make something good for your little ones and they ignore you or make you feel like a big ogre? But, at the same time, it’s easy to forget that they aren’t little monsters but little children, they still need to learn what’s good/bad and we are the ones to teach them. Never forget, everything changes depending on the perspective.
If you are looking for a funny read but with a deep core, I highly recommend you this series, it’s funny and real and you will not be able to stop laughing. At the same time, it will give the little ones something to think about, maybe tomorrow they will not see you as monsters… who knows! 😉
