About The Book

Hare’s Landing, West Cork. A house full of mystery…
Rachel Lambert leaves London afraid for her personal safety and determined to uncover the truth behind the sudden death of a homeless man with links to a country house hotel called Hare’s Landing.
New York-based crime reporter Caroline Kelly’s career is threatened by a lawsuit and she needs some thinking space away from her job. But almost as soon as she arrives, Hare’s Landing begins to reveal its own stories – a 30-year-old missing person’s case and the mysterious death of the hotel’s former owner.
As Rachel and Caroline join forces, it becomes clear that their investigations are intertwined – and that there is nothing more dangerous than the truth…

My Thoughts

This story is told between different perspectives, all of them have the same goal but they did not start the same way. This is the story of Rachel, Caroline and Alfie; how is it possible that with their different backgrounds their future is linked together? You’ll have to read the book if you want to know all the truth!
I’ll admit that I always love a good mystery related to a cold case, where no one knows what really happened but someone starts investigating and discovers the truth and with all the complications
in it. Rachel will start investigating the disappearance of a homeless guy after her partner has been attacked and all his recording equipment has been stolen. Alfie is the missing guy, who seems to have a big secret and is scared of someone that will be following him. Everyone thinks he is dead… but is he really dead or has killed his assailant?
Then, we have Caroline, she seems to be on a relaxing holiday, but as soon as she arrives at Hare’s Landing hotel is intrigued with the mysterious past. Is she smelling a big mystery?
As you can see, all the characters seem interesting and make you want to know more about the case, because even if you know that everything will be connected it’s impossible to stop reading to know what really happened. And why Alfie had been hiding all his life.
This is a book to keep you awake all night, not for fear but to discover the truth. The characters are relatable and make you feel involved in the story and the mystery, you can totally understand their need to know the truth and make peace with the past.
“The Dark Room” is the book you need if you want a compelling and interesting story, believe me. Ready?
