Coming Home to Brightwater Bay by Holly Hepburn
About The Book
On paper, Merina Wilde has it all: a successful career writing the kind of romantic novels that make even the hardest hearts swoon, a perfect carousel of book launches and parties to keep her social life buzzing, and a childhood sweetheart who thinks she’s a goddess. But Merry has a secret: the magic has stopped flowing from her fingers. Try as she might, she can’t summon up the sparkle that makes her stories shine. And as her deadline whooshes by, her personal life falls apart too. Alex tells her he wants something other than the future she’d always imagined for them and Merry finds herself single for the first time since – well, ever.
Desperate to get her life back on track, Merry leaves London and escapes to the windswept Orkney Islands, locking herself away in a secluded clifftop cottage to try to heal her heart and rediscover her passion for writing. But can the beauty of the islands and the kindness of strangers help Merry to fool herself into believing in love again, if only long enough to finish her book? Or is it time for her to give up the career she’s always adored and find something new to set her soul alight?
This book is the one we all need these days, a book to give you hope and calm, to make you remember that everything will be better and that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel we are living! I love crime/thriller books, but since the pandemic started I am reading more and more romance/chick lit stories, they leave me with a smile and make me forget the weirdness we are living. And this book was the magic pill I needed; made me smile and gave me hope for the rest of the day, a place to keep my mind happy with Merry and the Orkney Islands!
As I said, this is a book to disconnect, to make the story flow in your mind and let the characters talk to you, feel involved in this special community and help Merry to heal. Because it was easy feeling connected with her, her problems and her need to disconnect, we all need a little pause once in a while and the author makes an amazing job making the reader feel the story in their skin.
I can’t say how much this book has helped me, the book is as bright as the cover, makes you smile and re-read again some parts to make you dream and travel in your own sofa.
I hope this book will be a part of a series and we will see the characters again, it was so easy being transported to the Islands and be one more in the story, I can’t wait to meet them again! Are you ready for “Coming Home to Brightwater Bay”?
