About the Book

High-flying lawyer Jessica Wells has it all. A successful career, loving husband Tom and a family she adores. But one case – and one client – will put all that at risk.
Edward Blake. An ordinary life turned upside down – or a man who quietly watched television while his wife was murdered upstairs? With more questions than answers and a case too knotted to unravel, Jay suspects he’s protecting someone…
Then she comes home one day and her husband utters the words no-one ever wants to hear. Sit down… because I’ve got something to tell you….
Now Jay must fight not only for the man she defends, but for the man she thought she trusted with her life – her husband.

My Thoughts

When lawyer Jessica Wells meets her new client, she doesn’t know what to think about him, Edward Blake; the case doesn’t seem to fit his personality. He seems a man who loved his wife and cared for her, so, why killing her? As Jessica starts asking questions, she will start seeing a different face of the victim, she is not as innocent as it seemed and there are more possible killers than she ever thought… But this story is not only based on Jessica’s case but her personal life and how the case starts to becoming too personal.
I have to say that this book made me angry, not Jessica or her character but the relationship she has with her husband; because she trusts him, even if she lied to her before, now she thinks that her relationship is as strong as before… Until one day Tom says to her “I have something to tell you…” I will not make any spoilers, so I’ll let you read the story and decide what to think about it.
The story is light until the situation becomes stressful and oppressive; what Jessica will do? I don’t think this is an easy situation to be or read; because you can feel how Jessica is struggling with her life and case; what to believe or to do.
This is a slow paced read, full of tension and surprised; because when someone says to you “I have something to tell you…” be scared. Are you ready for your turn to listen?
