About The Book

The party has to end sometime.
It all starts on New Year’s Eve. A night that has to be a success, whatever the cost. For Joni and her friends, it’ll be a party that promises all the high stakes and glamour of any other, but by sunrise they’ll be dealing with something darker than the usual post-party comedown.
Not that they let this stand in their way. For this is their year to revel in all that the playground of London has to offer: sneaking into places they shouldn’t, breaking every rule, falling in love with the wrong people. All the while avoiding one undeniable truth: it’s not if the party ends, it’s how.

My Thoughts

Sometimes is difficult to decide when is the moment to stop; when it starts raining, when it is not funny anymore, or maybe when you start losing yourself?
This is the story of Joni, she has a close group of friends ready to party whenever they have time. They love to drink and have a good time, but one night something happens that will change them forever. This is their story.
This is a difficult read; raw and direct, a direct vision of adult life. Some of the characters of this story work, some of them study but all of them have something in common, love to spend time together. But, does partying together mean that when you are really struggling you’ll share your problems with them? Or you’ll keep your problems by yourself?
This is what this book really wants to show us, that it doesn’t matter how many friends you have or partners, your dark side is always hidden from everyone, never shared. And sometimes, when you need someone on your side, you don’t know who to reach, so you keep your struggles by yourself, making you more confused and lost.
I liked how the author, Nell Hudson, shows us the life of this group of friends, also, how lost Joni is and not able to share her thoughts with anyone. It’s not difficult to understand her need to be loved or looking for happiness; we all had a moment in our life where the world seems to go against ourselves. And that’s when we have to accept that we have a problem and we need help. Easy to say, difficult to do.
If you are looking for a special read to make you think and try to understand human nature, this is your book, believe me.
Are you ready for “Just for Today”?
