About the Book

Is someone trying to frame psychologist Pippa Durrant for the brutal murder of a woman she’s never even met?
It certainly seems that way when Pippa’s photo is found on the body of murdered lottery winner, Leanne Smith.
Pippa soon finds herself a suspect at the centre of a huge media storm. But she has an invaluable skill set – she is a human polygraph, expertly trained to spot lies and deceit. Skills she will need to help her to solve the mystery of who killed Leanne before it destroys her career – and her life.
But every cloud has a silver lining and this one arrives in the shape of DS Joe Swain. Initially suspicious of Pippa, he comes to trust her and to value her lie detection skills. Soon it’s clear there’s a definite spark between them….
Then, when another body turns up, Pippa realises her reputation isn’t the only thing in danger. Can she identify the killer before she becomes the next victim?
Fatal Fortune is the electrifying first book in the Dr. Pippa Durrant Thriller Series. If you like edge-of-your-seat action, clever sleuths, and shocking twists, then you’ll love Miranda Rijks’ gripping crime novel.

My Thoughts

Can you imagine seeing on the news that you are dead? That’s what happens to Dr Pippa Durrant, how can it be possible that they are saying that she is dead? She will loose all her patients if she doesn’t discover the truth soon!
But the main question would be, who is really the dead woman? She was not a nice person or at least that’s what her daughter tells us, she wasn’t a good mother or a good godmother either; but winning the lottery was the last straw, she simply got the money and move to Spain with her husband! So who really had motives to killer her?
This story is interesting, and discovering the truth too, of course, but what I really liked of the story was the characters and their situations. Pippa and her problems; she doesn’t like much to follow advice; even if her brother recommends her specifically not to call the police, is the first thing she does! So she should expect a little trouble, doesn’t she? We will know her problems with her son too, let’s say she doesn’t have an easy life, it will get a little bit more complicated after all of this.
I didn’t like much Leanne, I can understand her sadness of losing her mother, but she didn’t had a good relation… And I will not make any comments of the “perfect” husband she has.
I really liked this book, it was like popcorns, once I started reading I couldn’t stop! It was a really quick read, I suppose it was because I was eager to discover the truth that I finished it within a day, I am sure that if you start you’ll have the same problem! 😉
I am sure that you know that winning the lottery is always a sign of bad luck… never better said! Ready for Fatal Fortune?
