Sister of Mine by Laurie Petrou
About The Book
The Grayson sisters are trouble. Everyone in their small town knows it. But no-one can know of the secret that binds them together.
Hattie is the light. Penny is the darkness.
Together, they have balance.
But one night the balance is toppled. A match is struck. A fire is started. A cruel husband is killed. The potential for a new life flickers in the fire’s embers, bu resentment, guilt, and jealousy suffocate like smoke.
Their lives have been engulfed in flames – will they ever be able to put them out?
This is more than a mystery, it is a book about love and hate between sisters, how much would you sacrifice for the ones you love; everything?
I know a family relation is not always easy, even being an only child, the relation with my mother was always difficult, that’s the problem with two strong characters at the same place living together for a long time. Having said this, imagine now all these problems with one addition, a deep secret that could hurt their lives forever; you can imagine that the mix will be explosive, don’t you?
This is the story of Penny and Hattie, these two sisters always had each other backs, till now… There will be a new man entering to their lives and this will make that the equilibrium that was established between them all this time will start to unbalance, making not only their friendship peril but their lives too.
I was totally glued to this story, is not one of those books that you are eager to discover the secret, because with all the hints and clues that are dropped on the story you can guess what it is. But how this will end? Will they be able to continue keeping the secret or it will blow out?
The story is told by Penny, but this doesn’t mean that you’ll be more appealed to her, don’t expect to have a good or a bad sister, because there’s never one, there are good and bad things on both of them, that’s why the story is so interesting. Their love/hate relation is so real that maybe you’ll understand their situation. Do they hate each other or love deeply?
Sister of Mine is a twisted story; interesting, addictive and highly recommended, this it has to be one of your summer reads!
