To Keep You Safe by Kate Bradley
About The Book
You don’t know who they are. You don’t know why they’re hunting her. But you know she’s in danger.
What do you do?
When teacher Jenni Wales sees 15-year-old Destiny’s black eye, she’s immediately worried. Destiny isn’t your average student: she’s smart, genius IQ smart, and she’s in care. But concern turns to fear when Jenni witnesses an attempt to abduct Destiny from school.
Who are these men and what can Destiny know to make them hunt her?
With those around her not taking the threat seriously, Jenni does the only thing she can think of to keep Destiny safe: she takes her.
This had been a strange read, without knowing what’s really happening you only feel the need to protect the young Destiny, she has a black eye and seems totally terrified about someone that is trying to kidnap her. Ready To Keep You Safe? It will be a surprising and twisted read!
I was a little bit lost in the beginning of the story, I didn’t know what was happening or the background of the characters; with everything told in first person it made the story in just one perspective and prevented to see the full situation. Of course the story is created specially this way, making the reader to know only the part of the character they are reading, because in reality you don’t know what the others are thinking or the way they will act, we only have assumptions.
That’s what surprised me of the story, you only know the present of the action, of course as we enter to the story we will discover some background about the characters and why they act the way they act, but it made the story an intelligent and twisted read.
I really don’t want to make any spoilers of the story, because in this case telling a little too much would made the story totally melt down. I’ll simply say that nothing is the way we see it, but not only on the story but it makes you realize how a situation that you think you read in a special way the other person near you can see it totally different. So, who has the reason? Who is telling the truth?
This is a really intelligent and gripping read, the characters don’t expect you to feel shame for them, they simply tell you the truth, their truth. Now it will be your turn to decide who to believe.
Ready for a twisted story?
