A Conspiracy of Bones by Kathy Reichs
About The Book
It’s sweltering in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Temperance Brennan, still recovering from neurosurgery following an aneurysm, is battling nightmares, migraines, and what she thinks might be hallucinations when she receives a series of mysterious text messages, each containing a new picture of a corpse that is missing its face and hands. Immediately, she’s anxious to know who the dead man is, and why the images were sent to her.
An identified corpse soon turns up, only partly answering her questions.
To win answers to the others, including the man’s identity, she must go rogue. With help from a number of law enforcement associates including her Montreal beau Andrew Ryan and the always-ready-with-a-smart-quip, ex-homicide investigator Skinny Slidell, and utilizing new cutting-edge forensic methods, Tempe draws closer to the astonishing truth.
But the more she uncovers, the darker and more twisted the picture becomes …
Reading a book by Temperance Brennan has been on my bucket list for a while, I was a follower of the series, I read that the books were really good but I didn’t have the chance to read any of them until now. And let’s face the truth, as always, I prefer the book than the series! No matter how hard the screenwriter tries to adapt the story to the movie/series, they are never totally faithful to the character and reading the books make the series to another level!
As you can deduce, I really liked the book, the author, Kathy Reichs, does an impressive work sharing her knowledge in forensic anthropology, making the story more real and detailed, yes, if you don’t like “gore” details you’ll have to skip a few paragraphs, but, the detail is what makes this story different from the other series. And of course the main character, Temperance Brennan (Tempe), is not an easy character to treat, but in this story the case will be more personal and possibly difficult for her. She is recovering from a complicated operation, her personal life is quite difficult at the moment and at work, her new boss doesn’t like her much either… So, be prepared for a dark and twisted book, possibly the more personal one of Tempe, because someone is trying to mess with her head making her doubt of her own thoughts… What can be more scaring than this?
I really don’t want to tell more about the plot, there are so many twists and secrets on this book that it will be impossible to put down! The chapters are quite short, so with just one more chapter you’ll be awake all night reading the book!
If you are looking for a twisted and dark book with a brave and very intelligent main character, this is the only book you have to read right now! Ready?
