About The Book

Meet Kelly. A brilliant but socially awkward robotics engineer desperately seeking a wedding date…
Meet Ethan. Intelligent, gorgeous, brings out the confidence Kelly didn’t know she had and … not technically human. (But no one needs to know that.)
With her sister’s wedding looming and everyone in the world on her case about being perpetually single, Kelly decides to take her love life into her own hands – and use her genius skills to create Ethan.
But when she can’t resist keeping her new boy toy around even after the ‘I do’s’, Kelly knows she needs to hit the off switch on this romance, fast. Only, when you’ve found (well, made) your perfect man, how do you kiss him goodbye?

My Thoughts

Kelly needs someone to accompany her to her sister’s wedding, so, she decides to use her job resources and create her ideal boyfriend from the scratch. The problem? He will be so perfect that there’s no way any human could fit his empty space ever! Ready?
This is a hilarious read, Kelly is a very shy woman with a not so very nice family, they don’t really care about her, only to know if she has a partner or not. She has been all of her life eclipsed by her perfect sister and weird mother, and now, with the wedding approaching everything will be much worse. I have to say that I totally understand how Kelly is so scared to meet new people or let anyone break her armor, the way her family treat her is horrible. As you can imagine, creating your boyfriend is not the best answer either, expect some funny situations and weird love. Because, Kelly doesn’t really create Ethan searching for love, but to feel appreciated and cared, something that she has been missing all her life. Will Ethan be able to fulfill all her needs? Or even the perfect boyfriend is not as perfect as Kelly thinks? Kelly’s life will change completely after building Ethan. But maybe when putting in practice something wrong, she will find the answers she was looking for.
This had been a really quick read, with mechanical problems, job blackmail and wedding talk I can assure you that you will not have time to get bored with this story. Ready to create your own boyfriend?

About The Author

My first novel, The Plus One (“How to Build a Boyfriend from Scratch” in the UK), is a perfect example of my favorite type of story to write and to read: one that’s character-oriented, with both heart and humor.
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was seven years old. In my childhood and teenage years, I fell in love with writing poetry (don’t worry, I won’t make you read any), then discovered screenwriting and sketch comedy in college at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Straight out of school, I moved to Los Angeles to work in film and television. You know when bigwigs say “Have your people call my people?” I was the people. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to shift to writing full-time and have been thrilled to enter the fiction world.
I currently live in my home state of North Carolina, but came here by way of Los Angeles, St. Maarten, England, New York City, and Miami. I share my home with my husband and my pug, Lou, who is doubtless snoring very loudly as you read this.
