About The Book

When a young florist vanishes at night, the only evidence found is a tiny wooden heart. With nothing else to go on, Mallorca’s police chief calls upon unorthodox former detective, Isabel Flores Montserrat, to help.
But a second disappearance confirms a connection with a series of sinister cold cases. Suspecting that a serial killer has resurfaced, Isabel races to uncover the link between past and present, the meaning of the wooden heart, and the identity of the culprit.
Meanwhile, trouble is brewing in Isabel’s own village with a spate of mysterious animal disappearances.
Could it all be connected?

My Thoughts

Mallorca is a beautiful and sunny island, with some delicious food and some noisy tourists. But don’t worry, this is not a book to complain about the tourists or the abuse of the “Illes Balears” as a touristic place, this is a beautiful view of the isle, with some crime, yes, but that’s why police exists, don’t you think? The only problem is that Isabel Flores Montserrat is no longer a police officer, but it seems that every time the police needs help in their cases, they don’t hesitate to contact her!
I was surprised to discover this series, a cozy mystery series based in Mallorca, I’ll admit that I couldn’t resist reading it! It’s been years since I’ve been there, but don’t worry, the author Anna Nicholas, has done an amazing job to transport the reader there, you’ll almost feel the sun in your skin. But, remember that there’s a woman missing and maybe it will not be the only one… There seems to be some animal disappearing on the island too, weird, but could they be connected to the missing people?
This is the second book of the series Isabel Flores Mallorcan Mysteries, but you can read it as standalone, the characters and connection are well explained and you will not feel lost, but with these grey days that we are living, you’ll want to read both of them! Even if they are fiction, you can feel the real part of it, the characters are inspiring and brave and the little ferret pet will steal your heart, believe me!
This is a book to read and let you fantasize of travels and better places, I really can’t wait to read the next book of the series, I am addicted!
