My Thoughts

I love traveling, I miss discovering new places and cities; so, when a book can transport me to a remote place full of snow and a good mystery about it, I never say no! 😉
I don’t know why, but the Scandinavian books always attract me; the slow paced story, the detailed and different landscapes and most specially, the direct but calm characters. This book has all the ingredients you need to keep you entertained and interested in the plot; family lies, a mystery and snow!
This is the story of a family, with Liv as the only woman, surrounded by her dark father and her son; their relationship is bad, the reader can feel the hate between them on every page, don’t expect to like them, you have to understand the feelings, how everything started.
It’s a little bit tricky how the story is told back and forward, sometimes it gets a little bit difficult knowing who is talking, but it makes the story more realistic, knowing everything.
I really enjoyed this read, as I said, this is not a book to love the characters, but to try to discern how they arrived at the situation they are in, Liv seems totally trapped in a family and house she hates, but impossible to move forward. It was easy to understand her emotions, feeling them on your own skin but at the same time trying to help her get free…
If you are looking for a slow paced story full of family secrets and a beautiful landscape, this is your book.

Stina Jackson was born in 1983 and raised in Skellefteå, northern Sweden. In 2006 she moved to Denver, Colorado, where she lives with her husband and small dog.
Her debut novel, The Silver Road, was an international bestseller and won The Best Swedish Crime Novel Award in 2018. The Last Snow is her second novel.
