About The Book

Prue is not someone you would notice willingly. She likes to keep herself to herself and fade into the background. If it were not for the birthmark on her left cheek, she might actually succeed at becoming invisible.
She spends all of her time with her blind father, Vince. Together, they sit in silence and ignore the vibrant city just on their doorstep. Life is as good as what’s on TV. That is, until something forces them both to go outside and see what they have been missing. For Vince, that means discovering how to see the world without his sight. For Prue, that means finding the courage to finally love and be loved in return.
A story about family, friendship and facing your fears head on, this is a heart-warming story that will stay with you long after you have finished the last page.

My Thoughts

This is a slow paced story, beautiful and empowering; because bravery is not something you grow in one day but you have to build day by day.
Prue and Vince’s life is always the same, looking at the world from the outside, not engaging with anyone, preferring to be invisible. But then, one day, everything changes, and they have to start feeling the world and go outside. Vince will have to see the world without seeing it and Prue will have to face her past traumas.
The beautiful landscapes in London and the sun in their skin; they will have to learn again, but they have each other’s back and even if it will not be an easy path, I am sure they’ll succeed.
This had been a beautiful read, so emotive and descriptive that it was impossible to feel connected with Prue’s story and understand her insecurities. But what I liked is that at the same time it gives you power to try to change our lives too, because we all need a little push sometimes, don’t you think?
Even if this is a bittersweet story sometimes, it has a beautiful sight of London and a little reminder, love and romance doesn’t have an age and can always be part of your life.
If you are looking for a trip to London this summer, this is a beautiful read to choose, it will make you love your life and family.
Are you ready for “Summer In The City”?
