About The Book

Richard is a middle-aged Englishman who runs a B&B somewhere in the Loire Valley.
Nothing ever happens to Richard, and really that’s the way he likes it.
One day, however, one of his older guests disappears, leaving behind a bloody handprint. Another guest, the exotic Valérie, persuades a reluctant Richard to join her in investigating the disappearance.
Richard remains a dazed passenger in the case alongside Valerie until someone also murders Ava Gardner, one of his beloved hens.

My Thoughts

In a book where the hens are called: Lana Turner, Joan Crawford and Ava Gardner; it’s not difficult to fall in love with the characters and the plot and fall in love with the acidic humor on every page, believe me!
Since the beginning we know that this will not be a normal case, the main character, Richard, is quite eccentric to say the least. He runs a B&B, but as he describes himself, approachable but disengaged; it’s a clear way to see how the story will evolve. Because even if he doesn’t want to admit it, a blood handprint in a wall is not normal and there’s a mystery that has to be solved!
The case will be directed by Valérie, one of the hosts of the B&B that seems to be intrigued by the blood handprint and wants to know what happened to the mysterious guest. But the relation between Richard and Valérie is funny and original, they seem to be totally opposite but they balance each other.
I haven’t said anything from the case, but really it’s not important if you want to read it, it’s funny and intriguing, but what you’ll love about this book is the characters! They hold the case in their hands and make it work and make the reader to have a great time while trying to solve a murderous case.
I really can’t wait to read the next case of the series, I am sure it will be hilarious!
Are you ready for “Death and Croissants”?
