About The Book

Ben is an economist whose life is falling to pieces. The last thing he needs right now is to compile a report for the government on sustainable exportation of timber from Indonesia. But he has got to keep the pennies
rolling in. Everyone seems to have an angle. The Government want trade, the businessmen want low-cost products, the environmentalists want to maintain endangered habitats and one young woman, Yulia, is determined to protect communities. My Thoughts

We love to buy nice things, but what’s the price to our ecosystem?
This is a thoughtful book, that makes us remember that we don’t live alone in this world and that if we don’t take care of our planet in a few years we can be all gone.
This is an action book, but with some reality doses that I hope it will make you change how to care about our environment; bold and interesting, this is quite a read! The story treats quite a vast of themes, one that I was really intrigued, how a brand can certify that the woods they are using are taking care of the environment. I didn’t know that this was possible, but as we can see in the story, if you are not clean and interested in what your are doing, it will never be a good cause but something tainted and evil.
I liked how the author makes the reader understand the importance of the forests, not only for the animals that live there, but for the societies that live there. You can not destroy a forest to make some posh furniture without being involved in all the process or trying to bribe the police without thinking about the consequences of you are doing.
As I said, this is a very well plotted book, it will not leave you indifferent and I am sure that from now on you’ll want to know the background from the things you buy, believe me.

About The Author

Anna M Holmes is originally from New Zealand and lives in South-West London with her partner. She holds a BA in English, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism and an MA in Dance Studies. She began writing fifteen years ago, has shown work at the Marbella International Film Festival and her screenplay version of BLIND EYE was joint winner of Green Stories screenplay competition in 2020. She released her debut adventure novel Wayward Voyage in April 2021, inspired by the famous female pirate Anne Bonny.
Anna says,“I’m in a unique position to write about this subject. I love telling stories and my partner is a founder member of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). His contacts have been crucial for specialist advice.
In 2007 I wrote BLIND EYE as a screenplay, supported by Film Agency Wales. Sadly, the issue of rainforest destruction is more pressing than ever as we all face the reality of the climate crisis. My updated script was awarded joint-first prize in 2020 Green Stories screenplay competition, and I worked on the novel format.
BLIND EYE isn’t a preachy story, nor is it all doom and gloom. I suggest sustainable solutions at the end as it is important to leave readers with a sense of hope and ideas for what actions they might take.”
