About The Book

Cameron and Lisa Murdoch are successful New Zealand crime writers, happily married and topping bestseller lists worldwide.
They have been on the promotional circuit for years, joking that no one knows how to get away with crime like they do. After all, they write about it for a living.
So when their challenging seven-year-old son Zach disappears, the police and the public naturally wonder if they have finally decided to prove what they have been saying all this time… Are they trying to show how they can commit the perfect crime?
Multi-award winning bestseller Paul Cleave returns with an electrifying and chilling thriller about family, public outrage and what a person might be capable of under pressure, that will keep you guessing until the final page…

My Thoughts

Let’s start talking about the cover, I don’t think I would love any other cover for this book, intriguing and so easy to relate with the story! And the plot? Two crime-writers that their 7 years old son disappears… Did they do it?
I think I am a little biased with this story, I love reading and plotting crime books, but does this mean that if my son goes missing I had to do something with it? Of course not! But we are humans and we love to suspect from each other, it seems that makes our life more interesting, or hell depending on who you are talking to… 😉
This is my book of the month, possibly the year, well plotted and easy to fall for it! The story is told between different characters, making it easy to follow the plot and to make your own mind plots, but never forget that this is a twisted and original book. It will trick you and fall in love with it.
It was easy being in the parents perspective, their child is missing, the sadness, guilty conscience, need to know what happened… While everyone around them thinks they are guilty… Are they right? Did they make something for their son?
Of course you’ll have to read the book if you want to know the truth. But I highly recommend you to read it and enjoy every page, it’s worth it!
