About The Book

When Nina Mistry hits rock bottom – because no one plans to turn thirty in a prison cell – a tatty little self-help book finds its way into her hands. She doesn’t think she needs it; why would a strong, sensible Taurus like her go on a ‘life-changing journey’ to fix herself? But her inner journalist is curious. Within minutes, she’s hooked. By the time the sun comes up, she knows exactly what she needs to do . . .
This will not be a journey for the faint-hearted, but whatever else Nina has messed up in her life, she’s never been afraid of a challenge.
Her mother is – as always – appalled. Her brother is too depressed to care. The love of her life? He’s already moved on. And her friends . . . well, that’s another story.
But Nina has Nina.
And she’s about to find out if that’s enough.
My Thoughts
We all have been in a moment in life where nothing seems to go as planned and we can’t seem to find our direction.
Nina seems to be in this moment of her life, the only difference is that she is in her 30th birthday and in prison… maybe is the best moment to see her life in perspective and start pursuing her dreams?
This is the story of Nina, a fresh and real voice that will show us a little bit of her struggles to find what she really wants to do in her life. The help will come in the form of a lonely book that she finds the night she gets into prison, a way to love ourselves with 30 steps. Maybe we all need to read it?
This is a fiction book, but sometimes, the struggles Nina feels are too close to home; the family problems, depression, cyber bullying, racism… just to say a few. I think that’s what makes this book special and different, you can read it in two ways; objectively, as a mere spectator to have some fun and enjoy a good read. Or, to learn something from it, especially to love yourself a little bit more. Because in the end, what matters is not who you love but if you love yourself, don’t you think?
