About The Book

As a series of rolling blackouts plunge the city into darkness, Detective Aidan Waits sits on an abandoned hospital ward, watching a mass murderer slowly die. Transferred from his usual night shift duties and onto protective custody, he has just one job…
To extract the location of Martin Wick’s final victim before the notorious mass murderer passes away.
Wick has spent over a decade in prison, in near-total silence, having confessed to an unspeakable crime that shocked the nation and earned him the nickname of The Sleepwalker.
But when a daring premeditated attack leaves one police officer dead and another one fighting for his life, Wick’s whispered last words will send Waits on a journey into the heart of darkness…
Manipulated by a reticent psychopath from his past, and under investigation from his new partner, Detective Constable Naomi Black, Waits realises too late that a remorseless contract killer is at work.
Can Aidan Waits solve his last case before fleeing justice?

My Thoughts

If you love puzzles, this one is for you; with a lot of suspects, twists and tension; this is the best puzzle in a book!
This is not the first case of the Detective Aidan Waits, but I think it is the most personal of the three books of the series; because I think the worst nightmare of any police detective is the suspicion that the killer you have put in prison is not the killer you thought; be prepared!
The story is based on a grey Manchester, that will fit perfectly with our anti-hero main character, Detective Aidan Waits that doesn’t trust anyone and sees the world in grey colours. But he will have the best partner in this case, Naomi Black, that will put some dark humour and an interesting touch in the story. There are a lot interesting characters on the story, be prepared to see some characters from the previous books; but don’t worry if you haven’t read them, you’ll love the story either way! But just one advice, this book is so good that I would highly recommend you to read all the book of the series, they are a must read!
This is an astonishing read, full of interesting characters and layers that will make this read complex and full; bittersweet but worth every page.
