About The Book
The hunt is on. And this time, it’s personal…
When DS Josie Masters is called out to a house in North Oxford to investigate a serious incident, things take a personal turn. The body is Harry’s – her friend and former colleague.
Josie thought Harry lived alone, but evidence suggests he’d had a lodger – a young woman who has fled the scene.
And as more killings stun Oxford, the police discover the picture is more complicated than it appeared.
The young woman is on the run, and someone is following her – leaving a stack of bodies in their wake…
Return to work after a maternity leave is never easy, but if you are a detective and the first case you have to investigate is someone you know, for sure that will be difficult.
DS Josie Masters is ready to return to work, but I don’t think she is prepared for all that will be waiting for her after discovering her mentor’s death. And after discovering that he was living with someone who had fled after his death only adds more darkness to the murder, who is she? Is she connected to Harry’s death? As you can see there are a lot of questions about the plot, the only way to answer them is to read the book, of course!
This is the third book of this series, but you can read it perfectly as standalone, the connection between the characters is well explained and you don’t feel lost on the plot, don’t worry.
I really enjoy a book where there’s not a direct connection between the victims, and the reader has to make their own plot and possibilities before discovering the truth. It makes the book more intriguing and addictive, don’t you think?
This is a slow burning story, told mainly by Josie, as she investigates the case and her own guilt as returning to work made the book more relatable and human, because you can totally connect with a detective that has faults but tries to do her best no matter how difficult it could be.
Watch Over is a book that will keep you reading and wanting to discover the truth, nothing will matter more. Ready?
