About The Book

This is the story of a brave young girl, Elodie-Rose, who one day decides to change the world and keep all her fucks in her basket.
Wait a minute. You’re confused. What are fucks, you ask? It’s quite simple, really. Fucks are her self-esteem; all the happy, sad and wonderful thoughts that sit in her basket. They sit in every girl’s basket. And every girl must give these fucks away every time someone asks.
One day Elodie-Rose decides to break rank and find out what happens if those fucks stay where they are…

My Thoughts

I really don’t know where to start about this book, if you have the preconception that this is a kids book, forget it! This is a book for everyone, a book to learn and grow, it doesn’t matter your age, the only important thing is that you become too a girl who gives zero F***s!
I don’t think this book should be classified for girls, because if you don’t show men/boys the struggles that we have by being a woman, they will never try to change the world we are living. I think this is a book that should be read in a group read, to become aware of all the struggles that the young ones face; the impositions that we make to them (possibly without being aware of it) and how we take their freshness and uniqueness with it. If you take out the dreams to any kid you’ll leave them without hope and energy, they need their dreams to become better persons and create a better world, don’t you think?
I really loved the illustrations, how the artist created different types of girls and compared them to famous women that we all know and take as referees, because even if we only studied “important men” in the world, the women have their piece in history and important events, now it’s time that we study them and don’t forget that women are important too.
I loved this book, the illustrations, the story told in it, this is the world that our little ones are living, don’t think that is fiction, they are compared, bullied and assigned to a mould, maybe it’s time that we help them to break this mould and let the little ones be something better. It’s in our hands, we are the only ones that we can change it. Are you read the be a Girl Who Gave Zero F***s, because I am!
