About The Book

Keep your family close, because your enemies are closer.
University student Matt Pine has just received devastating news. Nearly his entire family have been found dead while holidaying in Mexico. The local police claim it was an accident, but the FBI aren’t convinced – and they won’t tell Matt why.
The tragedy thrusts his family into the media spotlight again. Seven years ago, Matt’s older brother, Danny, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his teenage girlfriend. Danny has always sworn he was innocent, and last year, a true crime documentary that claimed he was wrongfully convicted went viral.
Now his family’s murder is overlapping with Danny’s case, Matt is determined to uncover the truth behind the crime that sent his brother to prison. Even if it means putting his own life in danger, and confronting his every last fear.

My Thoughts

What an intriguing read, sad and twisted it was impossible to put down! I really don’t know how to start making this review, it was so easy to flow inside the story, and difficult to not make any spoilers with the review!
This is the story of the Pine family, when Matt Pine returns to his dormitory after party, he finds the police waiting for him, all his family has passed away in an accident in Mexico, or that’s what they told him in the beginning, because as hours pass, everyone starts to believe that this was an accident but something much more horrible. But this is not the first time that the Pine family is in the news, because the older brother is in prison, for murdering his girlfriend… You could ask why this is important in the story, it’s because the family was investigating the case and they found a clue in Mexico, where the “accident” happened, so it was really an accident or it was a killing? Matt will start investigating the case with the intelligent and brave agent Sarah Keller, who also thinks that there’s something more in the case.
The story is told between the past and the present, we will meet the full family before the “accident” and it was heartbreaking thinking that they all die in Mexico searching for answers.
This is a book I highly recommend, full of twists and a very complex plot. It was an unstoppable read and super addictive, believe me!
