And Now You’re Back by Jill Mansell
About The Book
One magical winter’s night in Venice, Didi fell in love. But it ended – and he left without even saying goodbye.
Now, thirteen years on, Shay Mason is back.
The old spark is still there, but Didi’s determined to ignore it. As manager of a stunning Cotswolds hotel, she’s happy at last, and soon to be married.
Anyway, Shay isn’t staying. He’s made a promise to his father. He’s going to keep it. And then he’ll be gone.
But Shay’s return stirs up long-forgotten emotions, and the scandal that led him to leave raises its head once again. It’s time for buried secrets to come to light.
And it seems that this was someone’s intention all along…
During this pandemic I’ve learnt a very important lesson, even if I love crime/thriller books the only way to keep my mood happy and rested is by reading light and romantic novels. Yes, me, that I imagine stories such as how my neighbor has her husband hidden in a secret room while is living with the love of her life. During these weird months I was only eager to read light and happy stories. Possibly to remember that there’s always a better and happy time waiting for us at the end of the tunnel, and that’s why I loved this book; it kept me reading and wanting for a happy ending. Because sometimes we don’t want a read to make us think, only one to relax and make us disconnect, and this one was a great discovery!
I love stories where the characters have a past together, not that they fall in love within minutes and proclaim forever love; a slowly growing story, real.
Didi Laing and Shay Mason have a past story, they never expect to meet again, but now they have and all the village they are working will be involved… And it’s totally impossible to be involved in the story, even if you suspect how everything will end, you can’t stop falling in love with them.
I think this is the book everyone should read as a “de-stress” pill, to remember to be happy and smile, we all need it sometimes, don’t you think?
