About The Book

Nell Ballard is a runaway. A former foster child with a dark secret she is desperate to keep, all Nell wants is to find a place she can belong. So when a job comes up at Starling Villas, home to the enigmatic Robin Wilder, she seizes the
opportunity with both hands. But her new lodgings may not be the safe haven that she was hoping for…
My Thoughts
We all want and search for a place to call home and people to call family, it doesn’t matter our link to them; friends or lovers, someone to trust and confide in the moments of need.
This is the story of Nell Ballard, she has not had an easy life, so when a job at the Starling Villas as the housekeeper of the strict Dr Robert Wilder appears on her life, she can’t say no. She is hoping that this will be her dream job, but as soon as she starts working she will discover the strict and demanding rules her boss wants. When her manipulative wife arrives at the Villas, Nell’s knows that there’s more that you can’t see in this family. Will she be ready to discover the truth and stay alive?
This had been a dark and disturbing read; addictive and twisted that made me turn pages without even noticing.
The story is told from Nell’s perspective, her past and present will be intertwined during the story, because even if the present is important it’s all linked to the past… Because we all are slaves from our past, it makes who we are in the present, for good or bad…
I have to say that I am a big fan of the author “Sarah Hilary” and this is not my first read, as always, her books are well written and with a high dosage of emotions. To make you connect with the characters and the plot, the perfect psychological thriller!
