About The Book

If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in ten sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. She helps people overcome everything, from domineering parents to assault. Her successes almost help her absorb the emptiness she feels since her husband’s death.
Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple, until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their 8-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods. When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course.
Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.
My Thoughts
Why is everyone so obsessed with perfection? Why can’t we accept our own mistakes and become more open to the people around us?
I am always surprised how in many of the books I read the main couple is called “perfect”, in this case “golden”; where they trick everyone around them that they don’t have problems and everything is always perfect. Let’s be honest, this is impossible, there’s always a moment when we feel low, underloved, sad… so the main point would be why we can’t talk with our partner? Because we don’t feel safe to talk? Are we ashamed of our doubts? So many questions but I never got my answers! But let’s focus a little bit with the plot of this book; Marissa and Matthew Bishop are having troubles, they need help in their marriage. So, they decided to go to the unconventional therapist Avery Chambers. As you can imagine, this plot is not as simple as it seems; even if the Bishop’s are going to therapy, I don’t think they were really expecting to open up and share all their secrets. And that’s possibly the first error they commit, because Avery is ready to discover every little secret they are hiding to help them. How difficult could it be? On the other side, we have Avery, she has had her license revoked and now her therapy is a little different as everyone is expecting… But she has her own problems that will affect directly to the core of the story.
I really enjoyed this read, the twists and surprises are waiting for the reader in the most unexpected moments, keeping me interested all the time!
If you are looking for an intriguing read and with some very interesting characters, believe me, this is your book.
