About The Book

Julia Lerner is one of the most powerful people in Silicon Valley and an icon to professional women across the country. She is the COO of Tangerine, one of America’s biggest technology companies. She is also a Russian spy. Julia has been carefully groomed to reach the upper echelons of the company and use Tangerine’s software to covertly funnel information back to Russia’s largest intelligence agency.
Alice Lu works as a low-level analyst within Tangerine, having never quite managed to climb the corporate ladder. One afternoon, when performing a server check, Alice discovers some unusual activity and is burdened with two powerful but distressing suspicions: Tangerine’s privacy settings aren’t as rigorous as the company claims they are and the person abusing this loophole might be Julia Lerner herself. Now, she must decide what to do with this information – before Julia finds out she has it.
My Thoughts
First of all let’s talk about this cover, intriguing and original. It’s impossible to not want to know more about the story behind the orange, don’t you think?
This is the story of Julia Lerner and Alice Lu; a Russian spy and technical engineer. You can ask what they both have in common, and the answer is Tangerine…
I’ll say from the beginning that I really love this book; it’s original with very interesting characters and it makes you wonder how everything will end. Julia is making a lot of money but now Russia wants more from her, she knows that the position she has right now is a loan and that someday she will be asked for a full payment with taxes. This moment has arrived and she is not ready to trespass her own limits, but what would this mean? Will she be risking her life?
On the other side we have Alice, she works in Tangerine, she is good at her job, she is so good that suspects what Julia is doing with the Tangerine users information… What will she do with it?
This is a slow burning story, not a mystery per se, but full of secrets and keeps the reader intrigued all the time.
If you are looking for an original book impossible to put down, this is your book, believe me! Ready to discover “Impostor Syndrome”?
