The Treadstone Resurrection by Joshua Hood
About The Book
Treadstone nearly destroyed Adam Hayes. The top-secret CIA Black Ops program trained him to be an all-but-invincible assassin, but it also cost him his family and any chance at a normal life. Which is why he was determined to get out. Working as a carpenter in rural Washington state, Adam thinks he has left Treadstone in the past, until he receives a mysterious email from a former colleague, and soon after is attacked by an unknown hit team at work.
Adam must regain the skills that Operation Treadstone taught him – lightning reflexes and a cold conscience – in order to discover who the would-be killers are and why they have come after him now. Are his pursuers enemies from a long-ago mission? Rival intelligence agents? Or, perhaps, forces inside Treadstone? His search will unearth secrets in the highest levels of government and pull him back into the shadowy world he worked so hard to forget.
I’ll say from the beginning that I’ve seen all the Bourne movies and I am watching the Treadstone tv series too, so you can say I am a little fan of the story! But this had been my first book, I am always scared to read action books because it’s much more difficult to follow the scenes. This is the contrary of movies which are more visual, although this book didn’t let me down, it’s 100% pure adrenaline on your veins!
As you can imagine (if you know more or less how “The Treadstone” starts) there’s an agent, Adam Hayes, who has been trained to be more a machine than a human, only instincts no feelings or remorse, but now he has “retired” and he only wants some peace in his life. As you can imagine this will not be so easy, so when a mysterious e-mail appears on his mailbox his life will turn 360 grades again, kill or be killed… but who can he really trust?
If you want to take a little “snack” time of your “boring” life, this is your book, unstoppable and full of action it will not leave the reader any space to think about anything else than survive before being killed, because, in the moments of fear, the only way to survive is to act like a Treadstone recruit.
The main character, Adam, remembered me of Jason Bourne, the broken life, the need to know the truth even if they know that could mean risking the life, but you fell for them and want to survive, because they’ve risked all of their life for the lies, now they simply want to know the truth no matter what. As you can imagine there will be blood, twists and misleading information, but really, in a secret mission, there’s never anyone that tells the whole truth!
